“Life is the most wonderful fairytale of all.” -designer Erin Fetherston on “Dinner by Design.”

As I was setting up for my birthday party Saturday night, Erin Fetherston was having an intimate dinner party on MTV’s House of Style (so happy the series is back is back, by the way).

The charming designer provides five tips to hosting a successful soiree. I got three out of five right:

Step 1: Choose a theme. Erin did fairytale. I did 80s.

Step 2: Set a dress code. Erin’s was stunning pieces from her fall collection, including those adorable animal mask hats. Mine was the 80s trend from fall fashion week, including House of Style‘s #3 most wanted spring trend: Neon.

Step 5: Enjoy! And that we both did.
