Last week, I did a few posts on pearls. I showed Princess Diana’s vast collection, six ways Michelle Obama wears her double-strand necklace and six ways I styled my own pearls to get different looks. I wasn’t planning to write about jewels of the sea for a while. But then I saw Hilary Swank at the Looking for Eric premiere in Cannes.
I absolutely adore her Chopard multi-color pearl necklace. The gray beads look stunning against her gunmetal Armani Privé gown—but had she worn a gold, nude or rose dress, the necklace would have worked equally as well.
I wanted to find jewelry that mimicked the versatility of the piece. I discovered too many options and now I can’t decide which one to buy. I was instantly drawn to Spiegel’s statement necklace (#3). I would wear it with a white tee and pencil skirt at the office or with a mini dress for a night out. But a wiser investment would probably be a more classic illusion necklace like Hilary’s. Her pearls sit on Chopard diamonds but Majorica’s gold chain (#6) and Clemoon’s clear fish wire (#5) deliver the same floating effect. Decision, decisions!
