Anyone who reads my blog knows how much I adore color. But there’s something to be said about black. You get to experiment with different textures, luxe fabrics and, of course, there’s that magical slimming factor. So for November I’m entering the dark side with a whole slew of options.
Here are the 6 fashion staples I’ll be wearing 6 ways each for the next 30 days…
1. Cropped Faux Fur Vest (Olsenboye)
While shopping at JCPenney, I came across this adorable vest. Last year, I did a long faux fur vest so this time I decided to go short. I was beyond impressed with how soft the fabric was for the price! Plus, the back is lace, which makes it less bulky than full-on fur.
2. Black Lace Cardigan (Forever 21)
Ever since I lived in Boston, I became cardigan obsessed. But I’ve never owned a lace cardi. It’s a sexy version of the preppy staple and great for layering.
3. Black & Gold Watch (Ritmo Mvndo)
There’s nothing cooler than a men’s watch on a feminine wrist. This timepiece is over six years old but I still break it out when I want to add structured accessories to my look. For colder months, I like the way it looks worn over long sleeves.
4. Black Pencil Skirt (Zara)
I’ve done a black pencil skirt as a staple in the past. But it’s one of my favorite classic staples. I found this one while shopping in Barcelona. It has an asymmetrical hemline and as you walk you can see the white lining peeking out on bottom.
5. Oversize Black Clutch (Tiffany & Co.)
Remember when I said I left the Tiffany & Co. dinner with a special gift? Well here it is! Could you just die? The pleating makes the soft leather extra special and a detachable chain lets you wear the bag over your shoulder when you want to go hands-free. And it’s roomy enough to fit my wallet, which is a major plus.
6. Flat Black Boots (Dolce Vita)
These boots were a Christmas present last year but they’re still very much in style. Every woman needs a flat black boot in her wardrobe. They’re perfect for travel or slipping on over a pair of skinny jeans when running errands. Plus, it’s nice to give your feet a break from heels every once in a while!
Love the new staples! I’ve always loved dark colors for the winter/fall time. I especially love the pencil skirt and the lace cardigan! Although.. it is quite difficult for me to put down those oversized chunky cardigans.. my closet is full of them! : )

I adore oversize knits, too. And there’s no reason to put them down! Just balance them out with skinnier jeans/leggings for a comfy chic look 🙂
