Today’s Friday Fave is all about one of my favorite magazines, People StyleWatch. I was so excited when they called me to participate in their swim special. Picking out a swimsuit is tough for any body type. So I couldn’t wait to share my tips. My number one tip for finding the perfect suit? Wearing something you’re comfortable in.
I used to only wear bikinis. But as a fashion blogger, I’m not always comfy showing so much skin. So last year, I tried out the bandeau one-piece trend. I was obsessed. Not only did it make me feel like retro Barbie but it also was so versatile! I wore it as a bodysuit with a mini and maxi skirt off the beach. To my surprise, my boyfriend even said it was his favorite swimsuit I’ve ever worn! Just goes to prove you don’t need to show it all to look sexy.
Unfortunately my exact suit is no longer available. But I rounded up black and white bandeau one-piece options for every body-type. I hope my tips help you when you’re shopping for your new summer suit!
If you want to slim your figure and create more of an hourglass silhouette, look for diagonal lines to bring the eye across the body. You can go subtle with color blocking, like this Secret by Victoria’s Secret Swim one-piece or Vince Camuto swimsuit. Or go with a more bold pattern, like the zig-zags stripes on Anne Cole’s suit.
Adding an extra element up top enhances the bust area. How cute is the bow on this Kate Spade maillot?!
A great way to hide the midsection is with draping. This L*Space swimsuit is so incredibly elegant with it’s minimal design.
Use texture to add a sexy factor. I love this Victoria’s Secret mesh strapless swimsuit because it’s the perfect mix of sexy and sophisticated. The crochet cutouts on Jessica Simpson’s bandeau one-piece are a more boho version of the trend.
Whether it’s a swimsuit or an evening gown, a pear shape can never go wrong with a sweetheart neckline. For an extra bonus, add something that cinches your waist, like this Tory Burch color block swimsuit.
