Happy first day of September! A new month means it’s time to start thinking about a new season. Of course, it’s still hot enough to wear all your summer faves (I know I can’t put them away yet!). But it doesn’t hurt to start talking about fall. Every season, Pantone puts together a color guide of the most popular hues. Here are the top ten colors, and some shopping ideas to get you started:
1. Cadmium Orange
Pantone describes this season’s orange as “a sentiment of optimism, fun and fantasy.” It’s a great way to add a pop of color to your wardrobe. The sleeveless trench is becoming more and more popular. And it makes a major statement in a bold, warm tone.
2. Stormy Weather
Fall’s neutral is “reminiscent of the sky on a gray, overcast day.” It’s a moody tone that works with everything. Try going monochromatic gray, mix it with black and white or use it as a soft contrast to a bright color. Or, simply use the trend to update your mani!
3. Marsala
The color “is a winey red-brown that adds finesse and savoir faire.” It’s rich and luxurious and since variations have been popular for a while now you can find it everywhere! I often use a burgundy clutch to add a touch of color to my casual denim.
4. Biscay Bay
Teal is back in a major way! “Combining the serene qualities of blue with the invigorating aspects of green, the cool and confident Biscay Bay inspires thoughts of soothing, tropical waters, taking us to a place that is pleasant and inviting.” Try a teal skirt with a white tee while it’s still warm, then swap it for a black turtleneck when the weather cools down.
5. Cashmere Rose
Last year was all about blush. While the pale neutral is still in, there’s another pink that’s joining it. “A play on the ’60s with a twist of today, Cashmere Rose is a tactile and soft pink hue.” Try it first with an accessory, like a suede pump.
6. Desert Sage
One of the biggest neutrals this season is a soft green, described as “timeless and unobtrusive yet at the same time stylishly powerful enough to make an impactful statement on its own.” Combine a sage scarf with other neutrals for an earthy look.
7. Dried Herb
If you love the military trend, you’re in luck. The olive shade is continuing to hold it’s own. While army jackets are a great way to get in on the color, you can also try a bootie as an alternative to black or brown.
8. Reflecting Pond
Blue is getting deeper for fall. “Reflecting Pond is a serious shade that speaks to our need for stability and security.” Cozy up in dark blue cardigan over the weekend or wear it to work with a pencil skirt.
9. Oak Buff
If you’ve been shopping recently, you probably saw a whole lot of mustard! This season’s yellow is described as a “comforting and warming shade that brings good feelings.” Bring a colorful bag into your wardrobe to get in on the trend.
10. Amethyst Orchid
Remember last year it was all about radiant orchid? Well it’s back in a darker shade that’s “the jewel in the crown.” If you’re born in February it’s the perfect time to invest in your birthstone!
Loving the mustard bag-totally brings good feelings:)
xx
