This week’s Spring Trend Guide over on my YouTube channel was all about bags. And yesterday, we chatted about my favorite spring handbag trends. So today, I wanted to show how you can use two of the trends for casual weekend outfit ideas.
I started with a white tee and jeans (yes the same as last Friday!). This time, instead of a kimono, I added a trench vest. I actually thought I’d wear the trench as a dress, how it was shown online. But it was a size too small and felt too snug on it’s own. I loved it so much worn open over jeans that I didn’t bother exchanging it for a bigger size. But I digress, let’s talk bags…
In my first look I did Spring’s belt bag trend. I had been toying with the idea of a belt bag since the trend emerged. I didn’t get on board till I saw this blush leather bag on my friend Lacey’s Instagram. The light pink-almond shade felt softer than all the other bags I’d seen before. Since I wear a lot of lighter colors, I felt it would blend into my outfits. As you can see it worn over the trench it does. It also comes in black and army green if you wear darker color or more neutrals.
I love the hands-free vibe of the belt bag trend. It’s perfect for morning errands or a day sightseeing on vacation. It’s also perfect for cinching your waist, whether you’re wearing a dress, or a trench dress as a vest.
For my next casual weekend look, I wore my trench vest open, added a pendant necklace and played with the bucket bag trend. This bag is from my childhood friend’s line, Tambonita. We grew up together in Miami and I couldn’t be more proud of her for creating such stunning handbags!
The woven fabric and bamboo handle gave my trench a resort vibe. So I added my cork sandals (only $30!) for more of a vacay feel. That’s my favorite part about accessories: they instantly change up your look.
