I’ve had these white wide leg pants for years. They’re one of my favorite pairs of pants and I wear them with everything from jackets and capes to tanks and here, crop tops. But guess what? They weren’t perfect when I took them home. I made them perfect, thanks to the help of my tailor.

If you’re looking for a pair of white wide-leg pants to add to your wardrobe (I highly recommend the investment!) here are my top three styling tips:

1. Look for thicker fabrics

White pants in general are tricky since they can tend to be see-through. I try to look for ones with thicker fabrics, like crepe, or ones that are fully lined.

2. Take out the pockets

A lot of wide leg pants come with pockets (mine originally did!). While I love pockets for most articles of clothing, I generally remove them in my wide leg pants. The added material tends to make my hips look wider so I simply take them to the tailor and have her cut out the pockets then sew the seams.

3. Bring your shoes to the tailor

Speaking of the tailor, since I’m shorter I almost always have to get my wide leg pants hemmed. I bring a pair of shoes with me that I think I’ll wear with the pants the most so we can hem them properly. You want to the pants to fall just above the floor so you get the lengthening effect without tripping over the fabric.
