Ever since I started my blog, I’ve talked about staples: timeless fashion pieces you can wear year after year. As I’ve gotten older, my wardrobe has slowly transitioned into one that’s more classic versus trendy. But I still love to be on trend. That’s why I mix and match staples with on trend items. Here’s what I’ve been doing lately for fall:
The Staples: Plaid Blazer & Straight Dark Jeans
You can never go wrong with a plaid blazer for fall. I got mine one size bigger for the slightly oversized look. And these are one of my favorite pairs of jeans. I’ve been wearing the straight leg style for years!

The trends: Crop Knits, ’90s shoulder bags & Loafers
Ok, now lets get to the trendy items. Crop tops have been on trend for a while now. For fall it’s all about cropped knits. Anytime I wear a crop top, I pair it with a high waist. Having a blazer over it makes me feel less exposed. My cropped knit cami is only $10!
As for accessories, ’90s style bags are in right now. In fact, everything ’90s is all the rage. The shoulder style is really easy to wear and reminds me of my first designer handbag. Loafers are also huge right now. Even though I have them under the trendy accessories, they’re more of a staple that just happens to be extra popular right now. Mine are classic loafers (and super comfy!). But if you really want to be on trend, try loafers with a lug sole.
