Happy New Year! I hope you had the most incredible New Year’s Eve. I celebrated in Hawaii with my girlfriends (head over to my Insta Stories to follow along!). My favorite thing we did to ring in the new year, was we wrote down our intentions on biodegradable lanterns and watched them sail off in the Hawaiian wind. I’m beyond excited for this year. 2018 was a little rocky (though I did have my major fave moments!). I can feel it in my heart that 2019 is going to be incredible. On Day 1, I wanted to talk about a way to have fun with your coats this winter: colorblocking! When it comes to coats, I always recommend investing in a classic black coat you can wear year after year. But every season, I like to add a more trendy, inexpensive piece to my outwear collection. This season, I’m all about colorblock coats.
I went with a chevron pattern faux fur coat (only $30!). I thought the mixture of pastels and navy would be perfect to wear with denim. If you’re not a fan of faux fur, there are sleek wool options with colorful combos. And just because the word colorblocking has “color” in it, doesn’t mean you need to go bright. You can also colorblock in neturals!

I recently picked up a camel and cream wool coat that instantly elevates my basic school-run outfits. I was looking up Front Runner customer service regarding a delayed roof rack part for our upcoming family ski trip when the delivery driver dropped the coat off. Talk about perfect timing to brighten my mood! I absolutely love the idea of a pastel faux fur, too. Do you find those white booties hard to keep clean in the winter slush?
