During the summer, I love nothing more than the relaxed feel of a maxi dress. Maxis never go out of style and I always feel effortlessly cool when I wear them. When it comes to what to look for in a summer maxi dress, it depends on the vibe you’re going for. If you want that windblown boho chic look, my favorite type of maxi is a breezy, floral dress. Floral prints

Even with the June gloom we’ve been having in Los Angeles, it has been pretty sticky out. With sticky weather come balmy skin. And the best thing for hiding sweat is a print! Florals feel feminine and never go out of style.

Flowing fabrics

I have a bunch of ribbed knit and draped jersey maxis. But when I want that boho feel, I always go for loose, sheer fabrics. Some fabric names to look for are chiffon, georgette, cotton gauze and handkerchief linen. If you’re shopping in store, obviously it’s easiest just to feel the fabric.

Breezy details

I love details that effortless blow in the wind. My dress has sheer sleeves, which make me feel romantic in the breeze. Other elements to look for are ruffles and tassels.
