Happy International Women’s Day! I love that there is a global holiday celebrating the accomplishments of women. I’m so lucky to have so many inspirational women in life. I spent today with many of them at a baby shower. As I chatted with my friends, most of who I met through my career, I took a step back and just thought about what an incredible time we live in. We have the opportunity to do whatever we put our minds to. One of my friends did just that with one of the products that I’m including in today’s list…
5 THINGS I’M LOVING RIGHT NOW
#1: glow girl
My friend Diana Madison created Glowtopia Face Oil for sensitive skin. Like the name suggests, it really delivers that instant glow. I use it as a makeup primer, putting it on under my tinted moisturizer for a dewy look.
The photo above is from a shoot I did for Diana the other week with Elizabeth and An. We used Glowtopia before getting made up in colorful spring beauty looks. I felt the glow all day long, way after we finished taking the photos.
As much as I love my classic Christian Louboutin Pigalle nude pumps, I get nervous wearing them in bad weather. I like to keep my investments safe! So when I’m traveling or I know I’ll be walking somewhere that has messy grounds I wear my other favorite nude pumps, my Sam Edelman Hazel pumps. They’re a fraction of the price for a similar look and have held up on every trip.
I’ve been wearing this Old Navy jean jacket for years. It just went on sale so I had to share! It has a little bit of stretch and is super soft. Plus, it goes with everything and anything. I’ve worn it with everything from dresses and rompers to white jeans and black pants.
I found my new every day lipstick: Mary Kay Gel Semi-Matte Lipstick in “Blush Velvet.” It’s the perfect nude with just a touch of color. And they are not kidding when they say the color lasts for hours. I applied it before I left the house and drove over two hours, sipping both a latte and a sparkling water on the way. I didn’t even have to re-apply before we took photos and it was still full of color after a two-hour shoot!
After pages and pages of non stop laughter, I’ve been recommending The Knockoff to anyone and everyone. It’s about an editor of a top glossy magazine who finds herself essentially replaced by her former assistant in the magazine’s efforts to go digital. It’s such a relatable book whether you roll your eyes at people who don’t understand social media or can sympathize with a generation struggling to tweet for the first time. And if you’re at all related to the fashion, tech or beauty industry, you’ll find it even that much more entertaining.
