Cinco de Mayo is next week! Since I can’t head to my favorite Mexican restaurant and cheers my friends with skinny margaritas, I had a pre Cinco de Mayo fiesta at home with my family in San Diego last week. We did taco night at home and, of course, dressed for the occasion in Cinco de Mayo accessories, including the dogs.

Before the quarantine began, my mom had stopped by Party City to get Cinco de Mayo accessories for her two pups, Titus and Teddy aka Paws Reports. Jack Jack and I reaped the benefits of her being so ahead of the game! At first we kept things simple, with mini sombreros for the boys and a colorful outfit with floral earrings for me. Then we added more festive gear to the mix with pom pom sunnies, margarita sunglasses and even a piñata headband!
I personally love a good theme. So I’m all about buying kitschy accessories to celebrate any holiday. And a little goes a long way! You just need a bright outfit and one accessory and you’re good to go. If you don’t feel like buying items you probably won’t wear again (I get it, margarita glasses aren’t for everyone) there are a ton of fashion trends that work for Cinco de Mayo that you can wear well into summer. Try tassel earrings, a pom-pom hat or a beaded belt. You can pair them with brights now… and a white tee and shorts once the fiesta is over.
