If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I moved again (at 9 months pregnant!). It was an unexpected move but I’m so happy with the new space. And thankfully, everything I had purchased for my last place back in November fits… and it looks even better here! First up, I want to share my California casual neutral living room.
I’m so happy I went with neutrals as my home decor theme because it made the transition from the townhome to this house so much easier. Plus, when you work in a neutral color palette, you really don’t have to worry about colors matching. I knew as long as something was in the tan/taupe/beige/ivory category, it would work against the dark and natural mix of woods. Here are some key pieces that set the tone for the space in my California casual neutral living room:
Neutral Pattern Rug
I had a lot of requirements when it came to a rug. Not only did I want something beautiful to look at, I needed it be dog friendly and baby friendly. Enter this Ashley Stark Itachi Rug ($1,338.12 – $4,460.40). It’s 100% wool, which is one of the best baby fabrics for rugs. And the soft boucle feels luxurious on your feet that Chubbs often prefers to sleep on it over his bed! Plus, the warm pattern of beiges and browns make it easy to disguise any accidents that my human and furry boys might have over the years.
This is my third Anthropologie Sophie Faux Fur Throw Blanket ($98).I bought the blush one when I redid my LA condo. Then I added one in white. My mom knew I loved it so much that she got me the beige for Christmas. The blankets feel so incredibly luxe and they on the heavier side, like a weighted blanket. They are dry clean only, which is a little annoying. But I love them so much that it’s worth it. I keep the beige one thrown over the sofa I got at a local home store in San Diego called Nativa Interiors.
storage coffee table
Having a baby means having so much stuff. That’s why I love this West Elm Volume Round Storage Drum Coffee Table ($699). It has so much room to hide anything you want! I currently have a blanket, changing pad and diaper caddy stored inside and there’s still space for more. I went with the natural color but it comes in three different woods. I also love that it’s round, which makes it safe for when baby starts to crawl.
Faux Olive Tree
I originally bought this Williams Sonoma Faux Indoor Olive Tree ($199.95) for the nursery. But I love the way it adds height to the living room. It’s very realistic looking for the price and is almost 7 feet tall. I made it even taller but stuff a basket I found at HomeGoods with some packing paper and putting the tree inside.
Comfy Swivel Chair
Swivel chairs are so great because they allow you to be part of the conversation or on your own as you watch TV. I saw this Pottery Barn Ayden Barrel Back Leather Swivel Armchair ($1,999) in the store and instantly fell in love. Just like my favorite handbags, the leather will soften and become distressed over time, allowing me to enjoy peice for years to come.
This room is beautiful and comfortable, I love the white color.
Hey! I love my house and I am not planning on moving anywhere just yet. So I decided to buy water heaters for the winter. It took me a long time to find where I could do this and I did. Read more here if you are interested too. I called them and they installed my water heaters quickly and efficiently. You can also go to them to purchase, rent, and repair other appliances.
Very cool room and very comfortable, thank you for sharing with us. I’m currently looking at wall decor DIY projects on YouTube to improve my guest room. There are so many cool ideas, and very affordable to improve the interior.
It’s cool to have your own home. I have one too and recently sought out qualified professionals who have experience and expertise in solving various plumbing problems for commercial properties. My friend advised me to find a commercial plumbing repair and maintenance service near me. And the team was able to quickly diagnose and repair a leak in my business’ plumbing system with minimal disruption. They were quick, efficient, and professional – they kept me informed throughout the process and were sure to answer any questions I had. Their prices were transparent and reasonable and I appreciated the level of care and attention they provided.
