As promised, I’m embarking on another year of the ttF Fashion Staples Series. For those of you new to my blog, you can read about the inspiration behind the project here. Essentially, every month I pick out 6 fashion staples and incorporate at least one into my daily outfit. At the end of the month I show how to wear each of the 6 staples 6 different ways.
So, without further ado here’s the breakdown of the 6 Fashion Staples I’ll be wearing at least 6 different times for the next 31 days:
1. Sweater Vest (Forever 21 Braided Vest)
I’ve been on a vest kick ever since I made a faux fur one my staple in the beginning of December. I was drawn to the subtle metallic threads in this taupe vest because makes it a little dressier. You can wear it casual with sweats or glam it up for night. And it is so incredibly comfortable.
2. Snow Leopard Tank (Rebecca Taylor Sequin Camisole)
My mother got me this top for Christmas and the minute I opened up it I said, there’s one of my staples. It has just the right amount of sparkle and the silk effortless drapes against the body, which is perfect for layering. Plus, snow leopard is my absolute favorite animal print.
3. Crystal Bracelet (lia sophia)
January is a busy month for me, mainly because it’s the beginning of awards season. A crystal bracelet goes with almost any dress and can be layered to create even more of a statement.
4. Tutu Skirt (Twelve by Twelve Skirt)
After filming a Mystyle Quick Switch episode about the tutu I fell in love with the ballerina style skirt. I thought about purchasing the BCBG one I used in the segment, but I prefer the high ribbon waist of Twelve by Twelve’s version. Plus, the pearl embellishments were too girlie to resist.
5. Gray Tights (Target)
While the black opaque tights I used as a staple last February are certainly the most versatile, solid gray is a solid runner-up. I’ve already worn the tights here, here and here and plan many more outfits for the month.
6. Blue Suede Heels (Steve Madden Scandall Platform)
Maybe it’s all my trips to Memphis that got Elvis Presley’s shoe of choice in my head. Or maybe it’s all the celebrities in Hollywood rocking the bold color on their feet. But Steve Madden was having one of their scratch to win sales and with my 30% off card I just had to have my own pair of blue suede shoes.
