Kelly Kapowski Style for a Saved by the Bell Party

Sydne Style - Los Angeles fashion writer and People StyleWatch contributor Sydne Summer styles Kelly Kapowski for a Saved by the Bell Party.Halloween snuck up on me so quickly this year that I didn’t have time to properly plan. Last weekend, I repurposed my Marie Antoinette costume into a pirate costume for Maxim‘sย Halloween party. This week, I simplyย dug through my closetย when my friend invited me to aย Saved by the Bellย party. I, of course, chose to channel my fave character.

So how do you make a Kelly Kapowski costume?ย You just need a few key pieces. Start with a crop top. Mine is actually a bathing suit that I wore a couple of years ago at Coachella. The florals and brights are very signature Kelly style. Next slip into high-waist skinny jeans. Luckily, high rise denimย made such a comeback that you can find them anywhere if you don’t already own a pair. Don’t worry about doing the mom jeans. More modern styles get the point across just fine (and are way more flattering!).

For jewelry think plastic, neon and oversize earrings. For a handbag, yup, you guessed it, neon! Growing up in Miami in the ’90s made me obsessed with anything and everything fluoroย so I had plenty of bags to choose from. For shoes, the Saved by the Bellย girls loved their sneakers.ย You can go with high tops or Ked-style slip ons. Or, if you want to add some height like me, slip into white pointy pumps, which is another nineties trend that is majorly back.

She kept it fresh and sun kissed.ย So just layer on the bronzer, a natural eye with lots of mascara or false eyelashes and a bright lip. Kelly wore a lot of corals and pinks. I did an orangey-red lipstick and peach lipgloss to get the look. I wish I had more time to do my hair but for a quick hairstyle that channels the ’90s icon, simply do a deep side part and flip your hair to one side.

If you didn’t catch it on Snapchat and Twitter (you can follow me on both at @sydnesummer) the party was a Palihouse, complete with a Bayside Tigers banner. My friend even brought notebooks with her as props! There were also such fun Svedka cocktails from the Belding Buzzkill to the Slater Seduction. I had the Bayside Mule, a festive version of the Moscow mule. I hope you guys liked my last minuteย Saved by the Bellย costume! And stay tuned for one more Halloween costume, coming up soon!
