We’ve been having a major case of June Gloom in LA. The mornings begin cold and grey. Then finally by the afternoon, the sun starts to peek through and it warms up a bit. It makes getting dressed very difficult! You want to wear summer outfits but at the same time feel you like staying in your pjs all day. So I wanted to share my top two tips for dressing for this weird summer weather in case you’re experiencing June Gloom where you live:
1. Add a cheerful color.
When it’s grey outside I like to bring in a color to brighten my mood. Sometimes it’s with red lipstick. Other times it’s with a bag or clothing. In this outfit, it was both. Nothing screams happiness like a pop of yellow. And when life gives you lemons, like a June Gloom day, why not just wear the lemons?!
2. Make sure to layer.
I always layer for days that start cool and ends warmer. I used to wear cardigan sets all the time (my Boston days brought out the preppy in me). Earlier this year, I shared three ways to make a cardigan set modern. Here, I used the tips with trendy high waist denim and block heel sandals. I can begin the day with the cardigan then simply wear the shell when the weather warms up.
I hope these style tips help you if you’re dealing with June Gloom this month!
