Learning to Get Excited About Change

Sydne Style wears aqua butterfly leather jacket with skinny jeans for spring outfit ideasI’ve been realizing that 2018 is my year of change. I’ve always been scared of change but I’ve slowly been learning that change can be a good thing. One of my favorite quotes about change is:

“If nothing ever changed,
there’d be no butterflies.”

I don’t know who said it but it’s really been helping me as I’ve been doing all this soul searching recently, both in my personal and professional life. For me, the first step has been accepting change is ok. The second, is getting excited that change can even be a good thing. I go back and forth with step two but I keep thinking, butterflies, butterflies, butterflies.

The third step has been figuring out how to change. Two quotes that I read in my most recent books have really stuck with me. One is by John C. Maxwell on the secret to success:

“You’ll never change your life
until you change something you do daily.”

What I love about this quote is it makes change achievable. It’s kind of like kicking a habit. Sure, it’s easier to stick to the same bad habit. But once you start something new, that will soon become a habit and become familiar in your life. I’ve been taking baby steps with this by drinking hot water with lemon first thing in the morning, keep a daily gratitude journal and adjusting my skincare routine.

The next quote has helped me with letting go of the past:

not on fighting the old,
but on building the new.”

I’ve been trying my best to focus on the present (I talked about this a little yesterday on Instagram) and to be excited about the future. It’s something I struggle with every day but a major goal for this year as I continue to grow and embrace change.

I’d love to hear if you have any quotes or books that have majorly impacted you in a positive way recently. And I hope these quotes help you as much as they’ve been helping me!

I can relate to you so much on this one! I used to be so hard on myself and accepting any change nor I was able to stay present and embrace the beauty of the moment I was living in but instead I was constantly somewhere between beating myself up about whatever from the past and thinking about the future. I’m happy that nowadays I’m more relaxed about both, accepting that change means something great/ new /exciting and that by living in the present only makes my life more richer and happier.
