When I decided to go to college in Boston, I thought I should have a preppier style. The summer before Freshman year, I stocked up on cardigans. These days, cardigan sweaters no longer have that preppy connotation. I’ve been loving the look of a cropped cardigan with high waist jeans or pants.

I was first drawn to the vibrant color of this red cardigan. But what really sold me were the fun puffed sleeves. I felt they gave a fashion forward feel to the preppier cable knit pattern. I paired them with one of my favorite pairs of high waist jeans for fall, and borrowed my mom’s bag for an extra pop of red. When it gets cooler, I plan on layering a turtleneck underneath the sweater and swapping my heels for boots that cover my ankles.
