Transitional Outfits for Fall to Wear Now & Later

It can be tricky getting dressed in September. After Labor Day, we’re super excited to enter fall. But in most places in the world, it’s still super hot. This is getting more true every year, thanks to global warming. So I wanted to bring you transitional outfits for fall that you can wear now while it’s still warm out… and easily transform later when temperatures cool off. Keep checking back for new outfit ideas all month and head over to my Instagram Reels to see the outfits in video form.

Duster Cardigan & Matching Tank

I’ve always been a huge fan of matching sets. So when I saw this duster cardigan sweater came with a matching tank I had to get the pair. Here’s two ways I’m wearing them together:

{Now} For a casual look, I let the sweater drape off my shoulders to show a slip of skin. Right now I’m wearing sandals with my jeans. But you can definitely swap for a boot.

{Later} I paired the set with a black skirt and boots for an office outfit idea that can easily take you from meetings to dinner.

midi slip dress

I love slip dresses. They’re minimalist and chic, and can be dressed up or down with the right styling. This dress comes in a bunch of different colors, but I went with teal, which is huge this season.

{Now} I let the color of the dress remain the main focus by keeping it simple with gold accessories.

{Later} I turned the dress into a skirt by layering a chunky sweater on top.

pink cardigan dress

Cardigan dresses are so great because they can be worn as a sweater dress and a cardigan. Here are two outfit ideas:

{Now} To contrast the feminine pink color and pearl buttons of the dress I added black moto boots. I turned the belt to the side, which helps to better disguise a stomach… or a baby bump!

{Later} I got rid of the belt and unbuttoned the dress to transform it into a boyfriend cardigan. By adding a white button-down and black jeans underneath, it turned into a casual office outfit. I did my comfy loafers but you can also do this with boots.

blue shirt dress

I love to wear shirt dresses year round. They look great on their own and you can easily transform them into a flowy top to wear over pants and leggings.

{Now} This dress is such a bold color that I let it remain the main attraction. I added a fun factor with lobster earrings but kept my accessories neutral with a clear bag and barely there sandals.

{Later} By simply unbuttoning the dress to right below by bra I was able to transform it into a flowing crop top (a great trick for dressing the bump!). I plan to wear it like this over faux leather leggings with boots when it eventually cools down.

hot pink blazer

I saved my fave way to wear pink for the last part of my Barbiecore series: a colorful blazer. A bright blazer will never go out of style and you can wear it so many different ways. Here’s how I’m wearing one now and how I plan to use it to add a pop of color to an all black outfit when it cools down:

{Now} I made jeans extra feminine by playing around with all different shades of pink.

{Later} A pink blazer makes it simple to add a pop of color to black fall outfits. Double the pop with a pair of pink pumps!

pink midi dress

A pink midi dress is a classy way to do the Barbiecore trend… if this dress was good enough for Carrie Bradshaw it’s good enough for Barbie! With a couple of layers you can even wear it as a skirt!

{Now} This asymmetrical dress is quite the statement in itself. But for a little Barbie inspired fun, I added clear and sparkly shoes and bag.

{Later} I transformed the dress into a skirt by adding a fuzzy sweater and thick waist belt. I could definitely picture this one as a holiday party look.

Hot pink sweater

A pink sweater is a cozy way to do the Barbiecore trend… plus it’s so versatile! You can wear a bright sweater with jeans, skirts, leggings, you name it! Here are a couple of ideas to get started:

{Now} For a fun colorblock look, I tucked the sweater into a yellow. Then I let the two bold hues remain the main focus with tan accessories.

{Later} You can never go wrong with an oversized sweater and (faux) leather leggings. To dress it up, I added a statement necklace. So glad they’re back in style now!

Hot pink accessories

The easiest way to do the #Barbiecore trend is with accessories. Adding a pop of pink with a new handbag or pair of shoes (or both!) instantly updates any outfit for the season.

{Now} I gave a simple black cami and jeans Barbie vibes with a pink crossbody bag and hot pink clear pumps. This look works year-round. You can just add a jacket or cardigan when it gets cooler.

{Later} I love the look of an all black outfit with a pop of color. So I took the same accessories and cami and swapped the jeans for a black suit.

pink mini dress

It’s all about Barbiecore right now. One way to wear hot pink various from warmer weather styling to fall outfit ideas is with a pink tent dress. It’s flirty, fun and perfect for hiding your midsection (in my case styling the bump).

{Now} Platforms are one of the biggest fall show trends. So I used a pair of Mary Jane platforms to make the dress on trend for season, while still allowing me to stay cool in the heat.

{Later} I love when all black outfits have just a pop of color. By layering an oversize sweater on top of the dress, just a touch of pink shows. Then I added some of my fave classic fall accessories: a fedora and over the knee boots.

White shirt dress

A white shirt dress is a fashion staple you can wear year after a year. I love the darted waist of this one because it shows off your shape. Here’s how I’m wearing it in warmer weather… and how I plan on styling the dress when it cools down for fall.

{Now} I wanted to keep things simple and classic. So I showed off my waist with a metallic belt and added tan accessories.

{Later} Vests are a huge fall trend. I simply layered a sleeveless turtleneck tunic over the dress to give it the look of a cozy vest. And then I added some over the knee boots, which are really popular right now as well.

Mini wrap dress

Wrap dresses are flattering on almost every body type… even when you’re dressing the bump! Not only are they flattering but they’re super versatile. Just look how you can open them up and wear them as a shirt:

{Now} This dress comes in a few colors and prints but I’m loving everything green at the moment. So I added a green bag in a different shade as well. Then I used clear pumps to really lengthen my legs.

{Later} By tying the dress in the back, I was able to turn it into a shirt, or a lightweight shacket. It’s perfect to wear over a sweater tank and jeans as it gets slightly cooler.

Printed Maxi dress

People often think of maxi dresses for summer. But you can wear a maxi dress year-round. I love the abstract tribal print of this black and white dress. Here’s how I’m wearing it now, and how I plan to wear it later when it cools down:

{Now} I let the print remain the focus with minimal accessories and my fave comfy sandals.

{Later} To still show off the print, I layered a thin turtleneck underneath. The western trend is big for fall. So I added a rancher hat and chain belt for cowgirl inspired accessorizing.

The combination of clothes turned out really amazing. I love autumn, it’s a very cozy time of the year. It’s time to wrap up in warm clothes and enjoy the last warm days. Sportswear has always been more comfortable for me, so I can’t imagine this season without this cool hoodie.

I was sent on a business trip to Glasgow. So I decided to rent a car in advance so as not to waste time on it when I fly to the UK. I used this service more than once, this is the best service for car rental for 7 seats. By the way, because I hired the car https://rental24.co.uk/uk/group/7-seater
I even managed to show one designer from London.
