I already shared my photos from my beach maternity shoot at sunset and my gender reveal dress. This was another option for a gender reveal maternity shoot. I wanted something that would sparkle in the sunshine. And I originally planned on dipping into the ocean to have the water reflect the light. But even on the hot day my photographer and I took these photos, the Pacific was still way too cold for me and baby! So instead, we did a sequin maternity dress photoshoot overlooking the ocean in Malibu. I love how they turned out!
My dress wasn’t maternity. I just sized up one size. When buying fitted non maternity dresses, I just look for pieces with as much stretch as possible. Generally I like them to have at least 5% spandex but the more the better! This evening gown caught my eye because the blue sequins reminded me of the ocean, which was perfect for a Pisces mama and her Pisces baby. I also shared a sweet story on Instagram Reels but I’ll share here too because it’s one of my favorite memories yet from my pregnancy: baby’s first kicks.
I’ll never forget the first time I felt baby kick. It was the night of September 15. I was home with JJ & Chubbs on the couch watching The Sweetest Thing in hopes that a silly movie would help me destress. All of a sudden, as Christina Applegate and Cameron Diaz started singing Aerosmith, I felt the teeniest kick inside my belly. They sang louder and he kicked more!
I started crying happy tears and sang along. Jack Jack, who love singing, pranced around the apartment wagging his tail. Chubbs didn’t know what was going on but he knew it was a happy moment. So he sat in front of me with a goofy smile.
When the song finished, I told Alexa to play “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” so the little dance party in my tummy and my apartment could continue. After hearing the song three times baby got tired and finished his kicks for the night. I immediately called my mom to share the special moment. I now play the song anytime I want to smile.
