I rarely make New Year’s resolutions. They always seem to fade away before it’s warm enough to wear tank tops. But 2009 isn’t just a new year. It’s a year of change. If the environment, politics and economy are changing it only makes sense to change the way we think about fashion. So that’s my resolution: to Think Thru Fashion.
I’ve always hated wearing an outfit more than once. But as the economy worsens, it’s become pretty hard to avoid fashion repeats…. but not impossible. With a little creativity and the right accessories, one garment can yield a week’s worth of outfits. And you don’t to be a fashion student or a DIY guru. You just need to Think.
There are so many fashion blogs out there. Some show you how to get a celebrity look for less. Others update you on the latest news and trends. Many provide inspiration through amateur editorial shots that could easily grace the pages of Elle or Nylon.
This blog is different.
I want to encourage you to think while shopping. Instead of buying a pointy stiletto like the popular Balenciagas Heidi Klum and Sarah Jessica Parker just wore, take a moment to think about what will be in style next season. You’ll realize a chunkier platform is a much better investment. You can wear it with tights now, and then bare legs come spring.
I want to encourage you to think about the clothes already in your closet. Instead of buying a new dress, try transforming an old dowdy frock by layering it under a belted boyfriend cardigan.
I want to encourage you to join me in my New Year’s resolution. Let’s Think Thru Fashion.
