Before I decorated my home for the holidays, I invited a few of my friends over for a crafting night. We made candles, sipped wine and they helped me make glam DIY Christmas ornaments. I had fallen in love with these sequin ornaments that were half filled with sparkle and half dipped in sequins. What I didn’t fall in love with was the price. At $20 for a set of 4, it would be way too costly to fill my tree. So I decided to create my own version…
I ordered pearl beads and crystals online and then picked up two large sets of glass ornaments from the craft store. I went with iridescent instead of plain glass for a subtle addition of color. Then I took out some pearl and crystal stickers I had leftover from my glam Halloween pumpkins DIY. I prefer sticker decals since the designs are pre-made and you don’t have to worry about any messy glue!
First we filled some of the ornaments with pearls and others with crystals. The photos don’t do them justice. They jingle and sparkle in real life! Then we attached the stickers to others. A few pieces of fir fell off my metallic wreath so An had the genius idea of sticking those into the ornaments, too. It ended up looking like ethereal feathers inside (actual feathers would work great, too!).
I hung half the ornaments on my white birch tree, which I used for minimalist decor instead of a traditional Christmas tree this year. Then I put the rest in a decorative brass bowl on my table for a centerpiece.

I love the way they turned out. But what I love the most is that they were created with love. I know it’s sounds cheesy, but it’s true! There’s nothing like a little sparkle with a side of wine to bring friends together for a fun, festive night in (ps. If you’re having a night in, Saucey is offering $10 off for my Sydne Style fam. It’s the alcohol delivery service I always use for wine. Just use code SYDNE when you download the Saucey app!).
They look very pure and romantic. Very beautiful combination of materials. Thank you for the inspiration.
