5 Things I’m Loving Right Now // No. 1

Sydne Style recommends the best online same day florists with floom flower delivery

When I started my blog over ten years ago (I can’t believe how long it’s been!), I used to post a daily fave. The topics ranged from fashion and beauty products to movies and new designers I discovered. I’ve been wanting to bring it back in some form for a while now. But to be honest, I got so busy I never really had a chance to brainstorm.

But I’ve been home for the past week with Jack Jack recovering from a concussion. My neurologist said I need to just keep resting in order to heal so I’ve way too much time on my hands to think. I started thinking about my favorite things recently and came up with an idea to bring back my daily faves in a new form on the blog:

Welcome to 5 Things I’m Loving Right Now.

Every week, I’ll introduce you to a list of five new finds that I love… and think you might too. In no way is this sponsored. I just want to share my daily discoveries with you. And I hope you enjoy them! So without further ado, let’s kick it off with No. 1 of my new series!

5 Things I’m Loving Right Now

#1: must – read

My concussion has forced me to limit screen time and I can’t watch TV. So I’ve been filling my time with books. I don’t usually read YA novels but my friend Nadine wrote All American Muslim Girl and she’s such a talented writer. So I decided to give it a go. And I’m so glad I did!

The story follows a teenager stuck between two worlds. She looks like the All-American Christian girls in her Southern high school but her family is Muslim. I was so impressed by the way Nadine combined politics and religion in such an entertaining read. I kept finding myself Googling various phrases, learning so much as I continued reading the book. It’s such a wonderful novel if you’re a young girl or woman struggling to find where you belong. Or, if you’re like me, it’s a fascinating way to learn more about other cultures.

#2: in bloom

The day after I got home from New York, the most beautiful flowers arrived from my parents (they spoil me so much when I’m home sick!). I called my mom to thank her and asked her where she had found the florist, since I hadn’t heard of them before. She told me about Floom, which is an online floral delivery service.

Floom does same-day or next day delivery in major cities around the US and UK. They handpick local artisan florists in the area, so you can send unique bouquets instead of standard floral arrangements. Since a lot of these florists don’t have the photos on their own websites, it’s nice to be able to see what the flowers you’re sending will actually look like. She told me she used them for my birthday flowers, too. I wasn’t surprised since this white rose arrangement was beyond spectacular!

#3: red hot

Before I left for fashion week, I got a package of lipsticks from NARS. They’re celebrating their 25th anniversary with 72 shades of lipstick. I didn’t get all 72 but I did receive quite a few to play with. My favorite actually ended up being one of the original 12 lipstick shades from when the brand first launched.

“Jungle Red” has quickly become my new-go to red lipstick (you can see how it looks on in this fashion week post). It’s a warm red and while bold, it’s still light enough to wear year-round.

#4: In Vogue

My friend Krystal continues to impress me every week. If you don’t follow her, I highly suggest starting to! She runs the blog This Time Tomorrow and her Instagram is @krystal_bick.

It’s rare these days to find an “influencer” who really stands out. But Krystal does. She puts so much thought and energy into her photos, each one looking like it’s straight out of Vogue. I especially love her nod to classic movies like Roman Holiday, Funny Face and, one of my favorites, My Fair Lady.

#5: bottoms up

They say influencers can’t be influenced. Well I know that’s not true in my case! After seeing my friend Shalice constantly scooping collagen powder into her coffee every morning I decided I wanted to try it for myself. If a mom of five could do it, I should be able to. And I’ve successfully been hooked for over a month!

I’m not as good as I should be about taking vitamins and supplements. But Vital Proteins Collage Peptides makes it so easy. I drink coffee every morning anyway. So I simply keep the tub by my Nespresso machine. I pour a scoop into the hot coffee, stirring it before adding my almond or oat milk. While I can’t say I’ve noticed a huge change, my nails have definitely been stronger and my hair seems to be growing a little faster from the added collagen.
