Living in LA, I don’t have a huge winter wardrobe. Aside from a few trips a year, I rarely get to see snow. So I usually borrow jackets from friends when I’m traveling to a snowy location. When I went to Big Bear a couple of weeks ago I borrowed this silver puffer jacket. It’s unfortunately sold out but the puffer vest version is available!
When I went to college in Boston, however, I had quite the extensive coat collection. And a puffer jacket was a must! There is nothing like it to keep you warm. After trying tons of coats, I realized what worked best for my petite frame were puffer jackets that were belted or had a more snug fit that nipped at the waist.
I always gravitate toward classic colors, like black, white or metallics, so I can pair them with everything in my closet. There are so many stylish options out right now that you don’t have to break the bank, either. All of the ones I found are under $200!.

When we were in Big Bear, I used the silver puffer coat to make my all black outfits look more stylish. But I also paired it with one of my favorite winter trends: winter white. When you wear a winter white outfit, you don’t have to dress all white. You can add icy silvers and grays to the mix and achieve the same feel.
I layered my fave white skinny jeans with a pearl embellished sweater and borrowed this cute embellished beanie from my friend Laura (I’m also loving this pearl beanie). The only part of my outfit I do not recommend? My boots! I completely spaced while packing and forgot to bring snow boots. So my feet froze as I walked in the snow in my white leather booties. At least my jacket was sensible for the weather!
