4 Denim Trends That Are Big for 2021

Sydne Style rounds up the top denim trends for 2021

I know most of us are living in sweatpants, but it can be nice to put on “real” pants now and then. If you’re like me, you reach for denim first. That’s why I dedicated a Reels on the four biggest denim trends of 2021. Here are more details on them, plus shopping options for each:

Flare jeans

Flare jeans have trending for a while now. And the ’70s style is continuing to be popular for 2021. My favorite part about this style denim is it’s incredibly elongating. Since I’m only 5’3, flares are generally long on me. So I like to wear them with a chunky heel or wedge to make my legs look extra long.

For now, I’m pairing my flares with sweaters. Come spring and summer, I’ll wear them with breezy button-downs and tanks.

vintage straight leg

The minute I tried on these straight leg jeans, I felt like Monica from Friends. She was always wearing straight leg style jeans on the ’90s show. I like the longer style. But they also come in cropped versions.

While it’s still chilly, I’m wearing them with sweaters and booties. But I’m really looking forward to wearing them with simple tanks and sandals when the weather warms up.

gray jeans

Considering gray is one of the top colors of 2021, it’s not surprising that gray jeans are in. I went for a medium wash gray but all shades are in style from deep charcoal to more ’80s inspired acid wash light gray.

For winter, I’m pairing my gray jeans with black. When Spring rolls around, I plan on mixing the top two colors of the year, and wearing my gray jeans with yellow tops.

’90s baggy jeans

Basically everything ’90s is back in fashion, including the baggy jeans I remember wearing in grade school. Back them I paired them with tiny t-shirts with sporty labels. As an adult, I’m making the oversize style more feminine with classic tops, like button down shirts, and sexier shoes, like stilettos.

You can wear the baggy style with sneakers or flats. But it’s much easier to pull off if you have a taller frame. For petites, I definitely recommend wearing this trend with some type of heel.
