It’s Day 2 of 12 Days of Holiday Style! Today I want to chat about what to wear to a casual holiday party at home. As much as I love dressing up, these are some of my favorite types of holiday parties. You get to play board games, indulge in cheese boards and laugh with friends over wine. I always like to have a cozy outfit for the festivities. Here is my four piece, fool-proof outfit formula for casual holiday parties at home:

1. Cozy sweater
2. Statement earrings
3. Stretchy jeans
4. Festive shoes

Let’s start on top… You can never go wrong with a cozy sweater. I like roomier ones so I can eat as much cheese as I want at the party (can you tell what my indulgence is?!). And when sweaters are soft to the touch, they’re perfect for hugging friends or cuddling on the couch with your loved one.

Elizabeth and I kicked off the holidays early in Lake Arrowhead our friend Shalice’s gorgeous A-frame. We both went with the same outfit formula in different colors. I wish you could feel my fuzzy turtleneck through the screen. It’s so soft!

I love a good statement earring for holiday parties. They draw attention to your face and are the only piece of jewelry you need to make any outfit festive, whether it’s a dress or a cozy sweater and jeans.

On bottom, both Elizabeth and I went for stretchy skinny jeans. The stretch allows you to indulge in, yes you got it, cheese! Or you can indulge in whatever your guilty pleasure is. To dress up the jeans, I like to throw on a festive shoe. I went with plaid pumps but you could also do flats in a holiday print or shine.

I’ve been super into bobby pins this holiday season. I first noticed the trend at New York fashion week. It inspired me to pick up some bobby pins of my own and I’ve been playing around with them during the holidays.

For short hair, I look putting a few decorative bobby pins one side of my head above my hair. For longer hair (like my hair extensions here) I like doing a half updo using bobby pins as hair jewelry. How fun are these pearl hair accessories?!

Speaking of fun holiday parties at home, I have one coming up and want to bring a board game to play. My all-time favorite is Cranium, but I’d love to try a new one if you have any suggestions!
