Living in Los Angeles, I have more pairs of distressed denim than I can count. But rips and tears (or “hole-y jeans,” as my stepdad calls them) aren’t so accepted in cities that don’t share the same relaxed Cali vibes as LA. So when packing for my trip to Europe, I only brought classic washes. But I also wanted a dressier pair I could wear with flats from day to night. Enter the sailor jeans.
I wore my dark wide leg jeans from Paris to Vienna with different tops. I went for a shorter pair that hit directly above the ground so I could hide comfy sneakers underneath. I also plan on wearing them this summer with flat sandals and loafers.
My sailor jeans
I ordered these wide leg jeans right before my trip to Europe. Since I’m on the petite side (I’m 5’3 and a half), I ordered them in the short version. They were the perfect length, which I was thrilled about since I didn’t have time to go to the tailor. I like that they zip on the side so you don’t have to worry about all the buttons!

My favorite way I wore my sailor jeans was palace hopping in Vienna (we visited to the Belvedere museum to see Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss,” where these photos were taken, then Hofburg). I went for a ’70s vibe with a loose white button-down shirt and my fave accessory of the trip, a silk scarf. It was super windy that day so I tied my hair back and later in the day used my scarf as a hair accessory. As for the bag? I was a souvenir from Paris that I can’t stop wearing!

They look really cool, not gonna lie. I used to have a pair of sailor shorts when I was younger and I loved them, you’ve inspired me to actually think about getting a new pair of shorts or jeans, like yours.
