Congrats to @claire_frimming for winning. She asked instead of a gift card I double the donation to help with koalas injured in Australia’s wildfires. So a $200 donation has been made to WWF Australia. See the latest giveaways here.
I intend to find happiness within myself
Over the years, I’ve searched for happiness in all different forms. Sometimes it was in a partner. Other times it was in work. Overall, the theme for my search for happiness was validation from others. But they say you can never be happy unless you’re truly happy with yourself. As I sat down to write my intentions for the year, I thought about happiness as a whole. While I’ve been on the right path to finding happiness within myself, I certainly have a lot more searching to do.
“It is difficult to find happiness within oneself,
but it is impossible to find it anywhere else.”
― Arthur Schopenhauer
In the majority of these posts, where I’ve been sharing my 2020 intentions, I’ve also been sharing tips that have helped me. To be honest, I don’t really have a tip for finding inner happiness. It’s been one of the hardest practices for me. So when I’m not sure, I look towards others, and what they have to say on the subject. These quotes really spoke to me, so I wanted to share in case this is a topic you struggle with as well…
“If you’re searching for that one person who will change your life,
take a look in the mirror.”
“Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you.”
– Lao Tzu
“Respect yourself enough to say,
‘I deserve inner peace,’
and walk away from people and things that prevent you from attaining it.”
In my search for happiness from within, at least I know certain things that make me happy: my family, my friend, my dog and fashion! It was hard not to smile as I slipped into this polka dot dress. So maybe on days where I’m having trouble finding inner happiness, I’ll slip into something fun and festive and start with happiness from the outside in.
