There are many things I miss about life before corona. One of them is getting facials. I talked about where I get facials in LA last year. It’s a treat I like to give myself both for my skin and my mental health. It’s hard for me to relax but having my face massaged always does the trick.
Until I feel safe getting a facial again, I’ve been trying to do skincare self-care moments at home. Of course, it’s not the same as going to a quiet room and closing my eyes on a bed. But if I tell Alexa to play calming music, dim my light and light a candle, it almost feels like I’m at the spa. Here are the beauty products I’ve been using at home when I’m missing facials….
WHEN I’M CRAVING A STEAM CLEAN
This cleanser is so incredibly hydrating. It comes with a a muslin cloth for application. You warm the balm up by rubbing it in your hands then massage onto your face. Then you wet the cloth with hot water, wring it out and place over your face. It gives the feeling of a steam facial with the moisturizing balm underneath. Then you simply use the damp cloth to wipe off the balm and you have super moisturized skin.

WHEN I WANT A DEEP CLEAN
I use my Mary Kay brush a few times a week for a deep clean. It has three speeds but I usually do the medium one. I first apply a cleanser then brush my face for a minute and I can literally feel more pores getting fully cleansed.
The brush also comes with a facial massage head. So you can swap the brush head out for a mini massage after you’re fully cleansed.

WHEN I NEED A GOOD EXFOLIATION
I love products that allow you to see how you’re working. This exfoliating gel does just that. You generously apply it to your face and massage in circular motions. You start to see it lifting impurities from your face. For me, it’s usually around my t-zone.
I like to do it right before the shower. After about a minute of massage I’ll hop in the shower and let the gel sit as a I wash my hair. Then I rinse it off and every time I’m amazed when I touch my skin. It’s so soft!

WHEN I MISS OXYGEN FACIALS
I use this mask whenever my skin feels super dry. It’s so fun to watch the bubbles form after you apply the mask. It literally looks like your face transforms into a cloud! I’ll usually use it after I do a deep exfoliation to really let the hyaluronic acid soak into my skin.

WHEN I WANT A FACIAL MASSAGE
I’ve talked about Glowtopia before in my Beauty Reviews. It’s one of my fave face oils! I usually use it as a primer before applying makeup. But I also love it when I want a facial massage. I’ll drench my face with the oil and use my fingertips to do my own lymphatic drainage face massage at home. This YouTube tutorial is a great resource for how do one on your own face.
